Stuff to know about us… and more importantly, about you.

There’s space to breathe here.
Sit back, friend, and take a deep breath. Feel that? That is the arrival of two long lost friends: slow and simple. We plan to spend lots of time with them along this journey, and hope that you’ll find rest for your hearts. We’re here to help provide sparks of fresh-air or hands-on adventure, motivation to screen-down more and connect deeper with the hearts around us. To take adventure back out of the screens in our lives… to unbox it.

The news is GOOD.
Be on the lookout in our posts for that phrase: The News is Good! Because we know all too well the disheartening weight that troubling statistics and alarming articles can bring.

And we believe that for every report on the negative effects of technology and our modern way of life on our kids’ minds— that there is something GOOD we can do based on those facts, a step we can take in the other direction. Something simple, even if there are growing pains along the way.

That these statistics, taken one step further into creative action, can bring hope rather than discouragement.

We live here, too.
We get it. This world of ours—it IS fast-paced. Technology is here in a big way. We have sick days, rainy days, days when our brains are fried and all we want to do is curl up with an old movie. We’ve been stuck in tricky situations where online tutorials were lifesavers.

We even have zany ideas like, say, starting a website about getting offline more (oh, the irony). In short, we know that technology is not inherently all bad; there are cases where it can save lives, support education, and do so much good. We aren’t on a march against all technology, here.

Rather, our hope is to offer practical, simple ideas and plans as well as real encouragement for striking a healthy balance—in ourselves, and for our families. To provide sparks that invite you and  your family into wonder, whimsy and wild: “www” as it was meant to be for every child.

We break some rules.
Want to know a secret? Websites, in general, are designed to be “sticky”. Meaning: they want to keep you there, they spin a web of links that turn into a maze of information. They want (quite hospitable of them) for you to stay awhile.

Want to hear a confession? We’re breaking some rules here. We want you to feel welcome, but (no offense) we don’t want you to stay awhile. We want things to be simple enough to find, but not too “sticky”. We want to be a base camp of sorts, a place you can stop any time, suit up for your adventures, and embark into the great wide open, leaving us in the dust. We won’t mind. We’ll grin like fools with that dust on our faces, and wave our handkerchiefs in adieu.

See you out on the adventure!
