Aren’t lists grand?
Glance at them and go, print them out to keep on hand, or just bookmark them for later. After compiling our free Do Something Awesome List of 21 Things to Do for All Ages, we went in search of other such lists in our favorite places around the web– lists of things to do, try, see, or read.
The following is a compilation of some of our favorites, packed with activities, ideas, and book titles to enjoy as you take adventure back out of the box. Enjoy!
-1-
Twenty Unplugged Activities for Preteen Boys from the MOB Society.
These ideas are fantastic (and versatile- they can work for others, as well!), and are assembled with an age when some kids are outgrowing some of their younger adventures, and are seeking new ways to spend their time. Take a look!

Tweny-Five Summer Project Ideas
We love the ideas like “cook around the world”, “master an interesting skill”, “summer service project,” “produce a play”, and “plan an event”. So many great ideas in this list!
-3-
Family Resources
Sally and Sarah Clarkson have compiled this list, based on their book, The Lifegiving Home: Creating a Place of Belonging and Becoming. Within it you’ll find a list for compiling a craft basket, a list for stocking a pantry, a list of games for game night, and even a list for creating a hospitality stash in order to welcome others in at a moment’s notice. This list is wonderful– and so is the book!
-4-
To Watch: Movies, TV, and Artists
We know, the irony of having a “To Watch” list on our site designed to encourage adventurers away from screens. But as we’ve said before, we live here too, in the world of rainy days and sick days and times when a movie night can be a blessing. Check out this list of ideas, also from mother/daughter duo, Sally and Sarah Clarkson.

To Memorize
Thinking of taking on a summer memorization project? When I used to hear “memorization”, it conjured up images of flashcards and rote recitation and a not-so-thrilled heart. But last summer, my little ones and I took on “The Eagle” by Alfred, Lord Tennyson– and it was a blast! Maybe it had to do with the fact that it was short– not intimidating to start with– or that they were allowed to climb up on the coffee table in order to jump down dramatically on the last line… but they were begging to recite it even on the days I forgot. One more list from Sally and Sarah Clarkson– this one is called, simply, “To Memorize”.
Books
SO many great book lists out there, this topic needed its only sub-list within the list of lists!
